Service Hour Opportunity

Posted on Nov 18 2021 - 10:57pm
The Cottonwood Creek HOA is looking for someone to hang the wreaths on street signs in their neighborhood.

The person who reached out to us has the following description:

The hanging and taking down times are somewhat flexible.  We usually put our wreaths out the weekend after Thanksgiving and we take them down shortly after new Years day.  My sons (when they were young ) and I used to do the work.  It takes about 2 hours to put everything up and about an hour to take it all down.

There are 3 trash bags and 2 plastic tubs that hold all the wreaths and sign entry garlands.  Who ever does the work, would they be able to store these too?

If you are looking for service hours and want to do this, please contact Mr. Sharrock so he can get you in touch with the HOA wreath program coordinator.

New Eagle-required Merit Badge: Citizenship in Society

Posted on Nov 18 2021 - 10:56pm

You have probably heard about a new Eagle-required merit badge by now. If not, it is called Citizenship in Society. It is available as of Nov 1, 2021 and it becomes Eagle-required on July 1, 2022. Here are the phase-in rules for Eagle Scout candidates, as recently clarified by the National Scout Office:

"Eagle Scout candidates will continue to use the current rank requirements until June 30, 2022 and will not be required to complete the new Citizenship in Society Merit Badge as long as they complete all of the current Eagle Rank requirements before July 1, 2022. They do not have to submit their final Eagle Scout application nor complete their Eagle Scout Board of Review prior to July 1, 2022, but must complete all current Eagle Scout requirements before then.

CLICK HERE to read more about this new merit badge. The online videos and FAQ will be updated soon, if not already done. For details on the requirements of the Citizenship in Society merit badge, CLICK HERE. If you have any questions about this new Eagle-required merit badge, please reach out to our Eagle Adviser Coordinator, Mr. Otte, via e-mail at eagleadviser@troop1001.org.
