Trail to Troop Campout (formerly Webelos Woods)! Nov 1-3 (Signup deadline October 21st...no exceptions)

Posted on Oct 15 2024 - 5:26pm
2024 TRJ Fall Trail to Troop #1 - Hosted by Northern Trail District

Trail to Troop is an awesome opportunity for Arrow of Light (and their parents) to experience some of the fun that they can look forward to once they cross over into a troop. Troops will host Arrow of Light Scouts from various packs and will form patrols which will include those Arrow of Light Scouts for the weekend. AOL Dens will be assigned to camp with a host Troop by the event staff.

On Saturday, the patrols will rotate in a round-robin style of activities where they can visit with different Troops. Each patrol will learn a variety of different outdoor and Scout skills and put them to use in live demonstrations. On Saturday night, both districts will come together to enjoy a rousing campfire program with yells and skits! There will also be a OA Brotherhood ceremony on Saturday evening.

This has the potential to be one of the biggest recruiting events of the year - we hope you and your Scout will support this signature event for the District.

All the details, registration and permission slips can be found HERE

Note: Please sign up by OCTOBER 21st so we can meet the Council-imposed deadline for registration There will be no extensions/exceptions since this is a district event.

Pumpkin Patch is back! Service hours opportunities

Posted on Oct 9 2024 - 2:12pm

Arapaho United Methodist Church annual pumpkin patch is back!

Our second load of pumpkins comes Saturday Oct 12th at 9 am.  We would love to have scouts and family members come help us with the unloading.  Bring water, work gloves and wheelbarrows or wagons.  Plus, we will have donuts for helpers!

We also have opportunities throughout the patch for scouts and families to help out for a 2 hour shift to help sell the pumpkins.  The patch is open 11am-7pm on Sat/Sun and 3pm-7pm M-F,  Sept 28th- Oct 31st.

In Summary, 2 ways to help: 1) Pumpkin unloading Sat 10/12  2) Work a sales shift

You can select your work shifts at the signup genius HERE or you can contact Judy at 972-231-1005 (ext #1) or Judy@arapahoumc.org and she can add you to a shift!

AUMC is located at 1400 W. Arapaho Rd, Richardson, Tx 75080

Cottonwood is here. It's still not too late to sign up and help.

Posted on Oct 3 2024 - 9:51pm
This is THE WEEK of our BIGGEST troop fund raiser. The money we make at Cottonwood helps us keep the cost of our annual troop dues low and offsets many troop expenses that would otherwise be passed on to YOU.

It is mission critical that EVERYONE contributes a minimum of 8 hours this weekend between the 4 day event; both youth and adults (16 hours/family).

We have several open positions that have ZERO coverage. We can not leave our station unmanned. Even spots with only 1 person is NOT enough coverage. We NEED MORE HELP.

Everyone is expected to show up for at least some time even if you can't do all 8 hours. Daytime help during Thursday and Friday is much needed. Many hands make light work.

Please sign up ASAP (if you can't do the full 3-4 hour shift, just add the information in the comments of your sign up). Sign up HERE

If we can no longer support this crucial fundraising event, we would need to increase the annual troop dues over $100 PER SCOUT to make up the difference.

We sign a new contract every year with the City of Richardson; this is not a guaranteed Troop 1001 event. The city is counting on us, and if we can no longer fill the required hours, they will ask another troop in the area instead. There are several other troops in our area that would jump at the opportunity to work for the city and earn the money that this event provides. Much of the money that we earn comes from the tips from the artists on load-in and load out. If we don't have people there during the day to load-in artists or enough help at load-out, we won't get those tips.

Tyler Molina Eagle project fundraising

Posted on Oct 3 2024 - 9:33pm

Hello, my name is Tyler Molina. I am an up and coming Eagle Scout who is working on his Eagle project. This project will be for Texas Lone Star Autism Solutions; a clinic that helps children with autism. I will be updating and making their outdoor area more engaging and more stimulating for the children. I’m asking for your financial support in order to make this project successful and help enrich the experiences for these children. Thank you!
