Thanks for Making Cottonwood a Success

Posted on May 18 2017 - 7:57am
Dear Troop 1001 scouts and families,

It was a pleasure to work with you all at the Spring 2017 Cottonwood Art Festival. The City of Richardson and the visiting artists were extremely appreciative and complimentary of our service.

We logged 380.9 volunteer hours by boys, and 667.5 hours by adults. Wow!!! We also had record water sales requiring an extra trip to Sam's Club on Saturday for more Dasani. The boys sold the last bottle on Sunday at 4:55pm. The record of service hours and hours for advancement has been forwarded to Lori Danen. Please contact us if you find any discrepancy and we can re-check the logs, as needed.

Mark your calendars now for next Cottonwood event, October 7 & 8, 2017, with set-up beginning on the 5th. Hopefully, we'll experience another gorgeous and profitable weekend at that time.

We appreciate the dedication and the positive spirit of service you bring to the troop in this huge fundraising effort. See you again in the fall.

Sincerely,
Tim and Carol Ozlowski
Cottonwood Committee Chairs

TBC Volunteer Work Day - 5/13 @ 8am til Noon

Posted on May 12 2017 - 3:28pm

Scouts are encouraged to volunteer at TBC's next Church Work Day,  this Saturday, May 13th, starting at 8 AM.  As always the church has a number of tasks and things for skilled and unskilled participants to accomplish.   Church Work Day is a great way to give back TBC and qualifies as service hours.  Any amount of time Scouts can come to serve, even if just one hour, would be much appreciated by the church.

Adult/Parent Training Meetings for New Members...2 Sessions Left...Don't Miss Out!

Posted on May 7 2017 - 9:19pm
Boy Scouts is different from Cub Scouts; the boys are older and ready to do more on their own.  To help parents understand the differences between the two programs, there will be three classes and one infosession held during our next four Monday night Troop meetings.  The first class will start with the "This is Scouting" video and end with a discussion about the Aims and Methods of the Boy Scout program. Our second session will be about all things summer camp: logistics, gear recommendations, and merit badge classes to name a few. The third topic is Board of Review (BOR) Training, which will qualify you to serve on Boards of Review for the Troop. We usually have at least one a week if not more, so please don't miss this session. We need your help! Last but not least, we will cover Merit Badge Counselor Training which will allow you to teach your own class or serve as an instructor during Winter Camp in January. All sessions will start at 7:15PM in Room 2 at the church. Mark your calendars now!
