Derby Day This Weekend!

Derby Day is this Saturday, February 2 at Erwin Park, Hilltop Pavilion, 4300 County Road 1006, McKinney, 75071.  It is up to the families to arrange transportation to and from the event.

The schedule is as follows:

  • 10 a.m. Derby Car testing
  • 11:45 a.m. lunch
  • 1 p.m. Race set up
  • 1:15 p.m. Races begin
  • 5:15 p.m. Wrap up

Winter Camp Merit Badges

All winter camp merit badges and partial requirements have been recorded. Please check your Troop Master account to make sure they were recorded correctly. Also, if you have ranked up or have other merit badges, please get them to Mr. Phillips by Monday January 28th so you can be recognized at the next Court of Honor on February 4th.

 

Eagle Project Available

An Eagle project at Renner Middle School in Plano is available for any Life scouts that are needing to fulfill their Eagle service project requirement.  Joey Reisinger started this project previously, but the school was unable to proceed with the project at that time.  They have now indicated they would like the project done.  Please contact Joey Reisinger for additional information including the contact at the school.

Upcoming Important Adult Education

Please consider participating in two important upcoming adult education opportunities:
 
Adult Board of Review (BOR) Training in on Monday 1/07 at 7pm. 
The troop will be a conducting an adult training session for Board of Review (BOR) at 7 pm on Monday 1/07 at TBC. The troop often needs adult help with Boards of Review, so please attend this training if you are interested in participating in a BOR and helping our scouts advance in rank. You are welcome to attend if you are new and just want to learn what a Board of Review is all about. Adult Merit Badge Counselor (MBC) Training is on Monday 1/14 at 7pm.
The troop will be a conducting an adult training session for Merit Badge Counselors (MBC) at 7 pm on Monday 1/14 at TBC. Adults interested in becoming Merit Badge Counselors, or just wanting to learn about it, are all welcome to attend. Also, this is required training for new and existing Merit Badge Counselors (MBC). It’s especially important that new MBC who will be working at Winter Camp on 1/18-1/20 attend this if possible. Please join us to learn about this important topic - how we can help our scouts earn Merit Badges. Congratulations Troop 1001 - Chairman's Elf Award Winner, 2018 Richardson Christmas Parade

Awards were presented at the opening of Santa's Village in Richardson on December 1. The Troop was recognized for our creative construction of truffula trees and our hospitable interaction with the crowd. Many thanks to our PLC for organizing the event and to our many adults who supported their efforts. Special thanks to Jeanne and Mike Kilgard for their coordination of the tree construction during our troop meeting on November 26.
