Joshua Banks Eagle Project - November 3

You are invited to volunteer to help me with my Eagle Project.  Details are available and you can sign up using this SignUpGenius:
 
 
This eagle scout project is a rest area which consists of a park bench and a bike rack.  This project will benefit people who bike, walk and/or run on the Katie Jackson trail.  The volunteer will be placed in three different teams based on their experience, skill, and need.  The Eagle Scout Project will take place at the Katie Jackson Park just inside the DORBA trail.  If you have any questions, please contact Joshua Banks at thebanks1001@gmail.com.

Adult Board of Review (BOR) Training in on Monday 11/05 at 7pm. 

The troop will be a conducting an adult training session for Board of Review (BOR) at 7 pm on Monday 11/05 at TBC.  The troop often needs adult help with Boards of Review, so please attend this training if you are interested in participating in a BOR and helping our scouts advance in rank.  You are welcome to attend if you are new and just want to learn what a Board of Review is all about.  If you have any questions, please contact Mike Reisingermj1234r@sbcglobal.net  or Nick SulkowskiNick.sulkowski@kimley-horn.com 

From David Wakefield...

The Wakefield's are finally moving to Tyler, Texas next week!  Mr. Wakefield and Trinity Bible Church have agreed that Mr. Wakefield will continue as Executive Officer for Troop1001 for one year after a permanent pastor is found for the church. Though they will not be residing in the Dallas area, Mr. Wakefield will continue to be in close touch with all of you for a while longer in his capacity as Executive Officer.

Philmont Summer 2019 - Sign up!

Troop 1001 has a second crew for Philmont 2019, July 12-24, leaving Richardson July 10. Presently the following have indicated they want to go:
  • John Bullard
  • Nathan Ding
  • Sean Sammis
  • Gary Sun
  • Josh Ding
  • Mike Sammis
We still have room in the crew for more scouts and adults.  A full crew is 12, 3-4 adults 9-8 scouts. Nathan's younger brother may also join the crew. 
 
As of now, the deposit and first payment of $535 are due. Please submit payment to Mr. Banks as soon as possible. An additional $435 will be due in Feb. There will also be some additional charges for travel expenses in the $200-500 range.
 
After Oct 27 the troop will open any available spots to scouts and adults outside of the troop.  Philmont will be very full this summer and will still have 2018 crews they couldn't accommodate in 2019 given priority in 2020, so the troop may not get a date in 2020.  If your scout intends to go to Philmont in his scouting career, we encourage you to join us!

Upcoming Training - Wilderness First Aid

For adults that are participating in any high adventure trips in the next 2 years, please consider taking Wilderness First Aid. 

Each individual crew (we have 3 crews going to Seabase spring break of 2019) must have one WFA trained adult.  The class is offer at TBC in Nov and once month Jan thru May. See  http://northerntrail.circleten.org/wilderness-first-aid-classes-20162017 to get more information and how to get an application.  Anyone scouter or scout high adventure age can take the course.
