First Aid Merit Badge

First Aid is one of the Eagle required merit badges and is information and skills that a scout will use the rest of a his life.  Any scout who has been in the troop over a year and doesn't have the merit badge should participate in this class.  The class will go over three Monday night sessions, Oct 30Nov 6, and Dec 11 and then finish at Winter Camp in January.  Scouts that are going to be participating should do the following before the first class:

Winter Camp is 1/12 – 1/14.  Our scouts have expressed an interest in working on the following Merit Badges at Winter Camp, and we need Merit Badge Counselors to be available for instruction or assistance.  If you have an interest and are willing, please contact Leslie Hassler (leslie@yourbizrules.com), or Nick Sulkowski (nick.sulkowski@kimley-horn.com).  There will be a future sign-up genius sent to facilitate this as well.

October Campout - Cedar Hill State Park - SIGN UP NOW!

October 20-22, Troop 1001 will be camping at Cedar Hill State Park which sits on the shore of Joe Pool Lake. Scouts will be able to go hiking and geocaching as well as visit an old Texas farm and historical center. Pack your hiking shoes and look out for muggles! Money Monday will be October 16th. $15 per scout for food. More info at upcoming meetings.

October Campout, Geocaching Merit Badge - help needed!

We are looking for an adult to teach the Geocaching Merit Badge at the October Cedar Hill State Park Campout.  If you have geocaching experience or are willing to learn and teach this badge at camp, please contact Nick Sulkowski (nick.sulkowski@kimley-horn.com).  Larry Chrisman has taught this merit badge in the past, and has some instructional materials that can be used and is willing to provide guidance to the new instructor.

Service Hours Opportunity - Arapaho United Methodist - 9/30 and 10/14

The infamous Arapaho United Methodist Pumpkin Patch takes place every year at southeast corner of Coit and Arapaho from October 1 through October 31.  The proceeds of each pumpkin purchase supports the farmers of the Navajo Nation of New Mexico, Kids Against Hunger and Justice For Our Neighbors (JFON).
