Merit Badge Counselor Training

Posted on Mar 1 2018 - 9:53pm

Troop 1001 Merit Badge Counselors:

  1. Just a reminder to please return your Merit Badge Counselor Information Forms (attached).  They are required by BSA annually, and it will also allow me to update our troop’s list.
  1. We have several scouts that are interested in doing the Fire Safety merit badge, and we do not have an adult MBC signed-up for that.  Please let me know if you are willing to take this on.

Thank you!

Northern Trail District offers two courses which are required for Soutmasters/Assistant Scoutmasters and very good for all scouters and scout parents.

The Scoutmaster/Assistant Leader Specific Training is two evening course which will explain in detail how scouting works from meetings, patrols, boy leadership, safety, camping abd troop operations. This course is for all adults including parents, committee members, and front lead leaders. The classes are on Wednesday's Mar 21 and 28th

The introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) Training is the companion course to Scoutmaster/Assistant Leader Specific. This is a hands-on campout where you participate as your scout would in the requirments of Tenderfoot to First Class. You will learn by doing under the dirsection of experienced leadership in the district.  Expect to learn a lot and have a very enjoyable experience at the same time. The campout is April 7-8.
