Reminder: Board of Review sessions are on the 1st and 2nd Monday each month

We have board of review sessions on the 1st & 2nd Monday of each month, so please plan accordingly.
 
Requests should still be emailed to BOR@troop1001.org for scheduling
 
We have a swim test on 4-3 so the one for April will be on 4-10-23.
5/1 & 5/8 are the dates in May before the last COH.

Where: First United Methodist Church- 503 N. Central Expressway, Richardson, TX  75080

Check-in: 8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.

Training: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Cost: $10 per person

Purtis Creek State Park primitive camping with fishing, canoeing and hiking March 24-26 Deadline to sign up: SUNDAY 3/19 6PM

Troop 1001 will be camping in the "primitive" section of the Purtis Creek State Park. Activities include hiking, fishing and canoeing. This is about an hour and 20 minute drive from TBC (68.7 miles). There will be a hike in and a hike out to get to camp. The campsites do not have have running water or toilet facilities (although bathroom facilities are available near parking area). Scouts should plan accordingly when packing (i.e. less equals more). Backpacks are preferred to duffels. Sign up now to enjoy this springtime campout with the troop.  Register HERE to attend (deadline Sunday 3/19 at 6PM).  Money Monday for the campout will be Monday March 20th.

Calling all scouts under 1st class...

Come to the troop room on Mondays from 6:30-7:00 PM before the regular troop meetings to work on advancement requirements.

Specific items may be covered (see the calendar for details).

First Aid Merit Badge Mop-up Mondays at 6PM AND Wilderness First Aid in Feb, Mar, Apr and May

First Aid MB Mop-up session:

     Mondays from 6:00 to 6:45 pm in Rm 2 at TBC, Mike Reisinger will continue working with the three scouts who started the First Aid MB at Winter Camp. These scouts should review the first aid requirements for Tenderfoot, 2nd class, and 1st Class for the Monday meeting and bring their worksheets for the MB.
 
Upcoming Wilderness First Aid training opportunities:
 
     Wilderness First Aid (WFA) will be offered at TBC the weekends of Mar 24-26, Apr 14-16, and May 5-7.

IOLS class needs staff

Information about the IOLS class that needs YOUR help.
 
East Trinity Trails District - out of Wylie/Rockwall area
 
There's a small IOLS class (5 adults) on April 14 & 15th that desperately needs staff. There's no camping requirement and you can come for your class topic on Saturday and then head home. 
 
The course needs instructors for the following trail to first class topics:
 
Ropes, 
Wood Tools, 
Cooking,
Animal identification, 
Interfaith worship,
Finding Your Way (orienteering),
Packing/Hiking techniques.
 
The course director is Sean Reynolds.
