Fort Hood Campout - Feb 24-26 - Registration deadline 12/26 at Noon

Posted on Dec 19 2022 - 7:15pm
Friday February 24, 2023 - Sunday February 26, 2023 - Fort Hood - Killeen TX
You must register attendance HERE. Deadline is Monday December 26th at Noon. It will be $40 per Scout to participate. We are asking for understanding and patience if details must change to satisfy requirements of our host so please keep that in mind. There is a possibility that we may have to limit participation and if that happens, we will prioritize based on the registration date/time stamp.

Form Up is at 5:30 p.m. with the troop departing TBC Friday night at 6:30PM, returning Sunday approximately 2PM

Activities

We are still confirming details, but the Troop will be hosted by the 1st Cavalry Division (1CD). The Troop will sleep in barracks on the north side of the base. Potential to visit air stables (helicopters), motor stable (armor), and cavalry outside museum (historical artillery, armor, and air). 1CD to provide escorts for movement around the base. Meals to be handled at base dining facilities with MREs tentative for lunch Saturday. We are also working on a potential flag retirement ceremony.

Currently, 1CD is requesting the Troop to use a transportation service due to security concerns.

Important information:

Due to base security rules, we need to limit the number of vehicles so we will be renting large passenger vans instead of using individual cars.  That means that we will have additional expenses over normal campouts, so there will be a $40 per scout cost to participate. This fee will be used to cover rental costs of the vans.

If your Scout is planning on going, register him ASAP. The deadline is Noon on Monday December 26th.  There is a possibility that we may have to limit participation and if that happens, we will prioritize based on the registration date/time stamp.

Please register yourself and your scouts so they can be included in the troop arranged transportation plans. If you are planning something outside our normal transportation processes, please indicate on the registration and ALSO contact Cary Slobin or Kelly Vinton directly to let us know as we will have to ask permission from the base for anything special.
