2. Pay the $200 deposit via PayPal, check or scout account

3. Complete merit badge selections on this Google form

Hale Scout Reservation offers over 50 activities and has 2 pools, Lake Bohannon, a climbing wall, a COPE course, and even a ski slope for the winter sports merit badge. The approximate total cost is $525 per scout which includes the food and the motorcoach bus to and from. The final amount will be determined prior to the 5/1 final payment date.

For merit badge selections, there are 4 regular advancement blocks during the week.
Younger scouts can sign-up for Soaring to Eagle (2 blocks), which helps meet requirements for Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks.
Older scouts can sign-up for up to 4 merit badges or choose to become BSA lifeguard certified.
Note - There is a separate $125 fee for the horsemanship merit badge that you will pay at camp (optional).

This Google form (https://forms.gle/xKDdBELcTLWgZAE88) is where each scout can indicate first choice for up to 4 merit badges and 2 alternate choices. Your scout  can also chose an additional merit badge that they would like to pursue during free time. You can see the time blocks for the merit badges on the HSR Class schedule at https://www.halescoutreservation.org/forms.
The summer camp committee will enter these request when the website opens on 4/1.

The swim test is scheduled for Monday April 3rd.

If a campership is needed, please reach out to the Stephanie Molina (stephanie.molina@outlook.com).

BSA Swim Test for Troop 1001 and Troop 444B and Troop 444G

Posted on Mar 24 2023 - 9:17am

You MUST sign up for a time slot to do your test.  The Signup Genius can be found by clicking HERE (note that this is the only place to register...there is no registration on the troop website)

The annual Troop Swim Test is upon us.  This test is required to participate in any BSA water related activities.  So if you are a Scout or an Adult who plans to participate in any Troop water activity, Summer Camp, High Adventure Trek, or other BSA event, join us on Monday April 3rd at the JCC of Dallas (7900 Northaven Rd, Dallas, TX 75230).  Let the gate attendant know you are with Troop 1001/444. We will enter the facility and check in at the fitness center.  You can find a map of the facility here: MAP

To help alleviate waiting in line, please sign up for a slot for each Scout and each Adult that wish to take the test.  (Older Scouts please consider taking later slots to allow younger participants the early evening spaces) In addition, Adults please consider taking a volunteer slot to help make the event a success.  We really need your help to make this Troop activity efficient.

Cost is just $5.  We will collect the money at the door. Please bring exact cash if you can as change will be limited.  Arrive a few minutes early to fill out the JCC Participant and Waiver form.  Before you depart, MAKE SURE YOUR RESULTS ARE INPUT IN THE TEST FORM BY THE ADMIN.

The test will consist of:

"Jump feet first into water over the head in depth. Level off and swim 75 yards in a strong manner using one or more of the following strokes: sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl; then swim 25 yards using an easy resting backstroke. The 100 yards must be completed in one swim without stops and must include at least one sharp turn. After completing the swim, rest by floating."

If you have any questions, please email SummerCamp@Troop1001.org or text Jeff Martin @ 972-333-7280

Camp Card Sales

Posted on Mar 24 2023 - 9:15am
At the troop meeting this week I announced to the Scouts that camp cards were now ready to sell door to door.
Camp cards are $10 each and the Scouts get $5 per card sold allocated to their name. These funds will help them raise money to pay for Summer Camp, Winter Camp, High adventure, Dues, Etc.

If your Scout is interested in selling please have them reach out to me at a Troop Meeting or via email at ad.weems@gmail.com. I am only handing out no more than 40 cards at a time and you and your scout have to agree and sign the checkout form that I have stating that all donations received are turned into the troop and if cards are lost, damaged or not turned in on time then you will have to pay for those cards.

I will send out more information on table sales if we are able to secure any. I look forward to helping any Scout with sales. Happy Scouting!!!
