We have been asked to help staff the Candyland Cub Scout Adventure Day event being held at Camp Wisdom on Saturday October 8th. We will meet at TBC at 7:15am and depart by 7:30am on Saturday October 8. This event is limited to 15 Scouts and we will need 4-5 Adults to drive the Scouts to/from Camp Wisdom (about 30 minutes away). The event ends at 3PM. Please take the things you will need for a day-camp type of event (Nalgene, hat, sunscreen, bug repellant, comfortable shoes, etc). If you have questions, please contact Jeff Sharrock or Kelly Vinton. Please sign up at:https://www.troop1001.org/node/3671 before Oct 3 at 8PM so we can register and have lunch provided for volunteers.
The time has come for us to prepare for our bi-annual Cottonwood fundraiser taking place Thursday September 29th through Sunday October 2nd at Cottonwood Park on Beltline Road, across from Richardson High School.
This is a major fundraising event for our Troop to help with costs associated with Scouting and to make the best opportunities available to the Scouts. it also is an opportunity for us to engage with the community, and give back our time to the city and artists. The requirement for each Scout is to volunteer 8 hours and each family to volunteer 8 hours over the course of the weekend. You can spread these hours over the weekend so you aren't overwhelmed with back-to-back shifts. You are also welcome to work more than your recommended hours, we need all of the help we can get! Any hours after your 8 will go towards rank volunteer hours.
Cottonwood Park is located on the south side of Belt Line Road in Richardson, just east of Coit Road. Parking is available on the north side of Belt Line at Richardson High School, and along the side streets around the park. Please note that the artists arrive via Dumont, on the south side of the park, so parking here may be obstructed. No scout vehicles, other than those of the Cottonwood Committee chairs, will be permitted into the park. If you need handicapped access and parking, please contact Brandon Ainsworth at 214-693-0934 immediately. Please allow adequate time to park and walk to the troop tent when arriving for your shifts. The troop tent is near the south end of the park, across from the swimming pool area. We will be volunteering at the park rain or shine. Dress accordingly. Only if there is lightning within 10 miles are we dismissed from our duties.

Provide help to schools and churches with landscaping, irrigation, and new play areas.
Provide experiences like summer camp and high adventure outings (climbing, canoeing, and rappelling) that help us learn to become better leaders in our community.
The reregistration fees (annual dues) for the 2022-23 year are due before Friday, 9/30/2022.
They're the same as last year, $150 for Scouts and $70 for Adults.
