2019 High Adventure Update

Posted on Mar 8 2018 - 8:13pm
The troop is putting together the High Adventures opportunities for 2019.  Any scout in the 7th grade now is eligible to go in 2019.  The troop needs to know what the interest are in each of the High Adventure Bases, as reservations decisions need to be made shortly.  After reviewing the possibilities below, let Mike Reisinger, mj1234r@sbcglobal.net know by Monday, March 12,  which one you are interested for 2019.  This is for Scouts and Parents, as parents are needed as adviser on each of the adventures. If you would have questions after looking over the three opportunities give me a call at 972-907-8949.
  • Philmont Scout Ranch - The troop has trek for 2019,  July 12-24 see http://philmontscoutranch.org/Camping.aspx for more information;
  • Sea Base - The troop didn't get a scuba adventure in the lottery for 2019.  The troop has priority until March 16 on adventures that were not assigned in the lottery,  The troop enter the lottery for the Scuba Adventure program between Jun 16 and Jul 17.  The troop must decide if there are earlier or later dates that would work for the scuba or if there is another Adventure that the boys are interested in going on.  See http://www.bsaseabase.org/filestore/seabase/pdf/2019/2019FSBBrochure.pdf  for more information.  Randy Bullard calling Seabase
  • Northern Tier - The troop doesn't have a date for 2019.  There still are a range of dates available see  http://www.ntier.org/filestore/NorthernTier/pdf/Availabletrips2019.pdf for the dates. The troop has always gone out of the Charles L. Sommers Base - Ely, MN.

Orienteering - THIS SATURDAY!

Posted on Mar 1 2018 - 10:00pm

Orienteers, there’s an O-Meet this weekend!

For those scouts working on their Orienteering merit badge, the hardest requirement is participating in three Orienteering events/meets.  For those that attended Winter Camp in the past two years, you each have at least one event completed.  And for those who recently went to the O-Meet at Camp James Ray, here’s a chance to try a course on your own.  Note: If you still prefer to team up with a buddy rather than compete alone, that is fine also.

Wood Badge Training for Adults - Please Read

Posted on Mar 1 2018 - 9:56pm

Wood Badge is for You, Those You Know, and Those You Want to Know!

All of us understand how critical proper training is for adult leaders and many of you have already taken part in many of the opportunities available at the District and Council levels. We are a better because of it, and our youth have benefitted from your commitment - thank you.
